Soms biedt het Internet je precies de troost die je nodig hebt als je iets verschrikkelijks hebt meegemaakt. Zo zag ik gisteren de film 'Jersey Girl' met Ben Affleck en je bent dan oprecht blij om via Google lotgenoten te vinden die dezelfde pijn hebben moeten doorstaan. De film schijnt nog niet eens de slechtste prestatie te zijn van deze acteur (dat moet 'Gigli' zijn) die wanhopig zijn best doet om te acteren dat hij een acteur is. Wat een trieste, bloedeloze, ongemeende, slecht geacteerde rampenvertoning. En dat was nog maar het menu op de DVD. Via via kom je dan ook nog eens terecht op de site The Agony Booth, die gespecialiseerd is in recensies van de allerslechtste films. Vooral de puntige samenvattingen zijn leerzaam:
"I would say that the Batman movie franchise has been reduced to the level of the campy 60's Adam West TV series, but that would be an insult to Adam West." Over Batman & Robin.
"Godzilla is a giant mutant lizard that enjoys nights on the town and long walks in the rain. He's very, very interested in starting a family. And ladies, not only is he single, but he's the only one of his species." Over Godzilla.
"An Irwin Allen production of a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman? "The pain, the pain...". Over Lost in Space.
"Unlike The Man with the Golden Gun, this film is not boring. But then, neither is getting hit in the face with a sledgehammer." Over Moonraker.
"If not for the idiotic dialogue, incompetent direction, horrific acting, non-existent budget, and relentless parade of goofy imagery, this possibly—possibly—could have been a decent movie." Over Parts: the Clonus Horror.
Ik voeg er graag mijn eigen one-liner over Jersey Girl aan toe:
"Jennifer Lopez dies in the first ten minutes of this movie. With a husband like Ben Affleck, you can only imagine why it took her so long".
