Ik moet toch eens wat meer gaan verwijzen naar andere bloggers. Want dat hoort hè. Soms zie je ook leuke stukjes, zoals onderstaande, treffende tekst van Rik van Bruggen van Novell België over het verschil tussen het Microsoft (.Net) kamp en de Javanen (J2EE).
"... It reminds me of an experience at a consulting company where I once worked. At that company, we obviously also had the J2EE and .Net (DCOM at the time) camps. And the basic difference was so obvious when I (working as a project manager/consultant at the time) would return to the office and ping both camps for a potential solution to a particular functional requirement. The response was very consistent:
the MS guys would sit me down behind their desk, open op Visual Studio, and start drawing screens, demoing mockups, illustrating solutions to me. Quick and dirty hacks obviously, but they were always eager to go from problem to solution... A very healthy - and very productive attitude.
the J2EE guys would usually start by saying that ... it would be VERY difficult. They would need to think about it. They would need to model the system... and then get back to me in 2 weeks. After which, the actual development would also take another million mandays...."
De terechte conclusie van Rik is dat Java een stuk simpeler zal moeten worden om werkelijk succesvol te zijn. Vind ik ook: 80% van die taal bestaat uit nutteloze taalelementen die alleen bedoeld zijn voor het prikkelen van het surplus aan testeron in de lijven van de getatoeerde snowboarders die op maandag weer netjes programmeur zijn.
